EOSC AAI Working Group

This is the wiki space of the EOSC AAI Working Group. The EOSC Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI) Working Group (WG) is one of three WGs under the "Technical and Semantic Interoperability Task Force" of the EOSC Association. The AAI WG focuses on updating the EOSC AAI architecture and operates under the AARC Engagement Group for Infrastructures (AEGIS) of the Authentication and Authorisation for Research and Collaboration Community (AARC), with direct support from the AARC-TREE project.

Participation in the WG is open to AAI experts and stakeholders from across the European Open Science Cloud. Experts from outside of Europe are also welcome to participate in an observer capacity. Building upon the collaborative spirit of the previous EOSC AAI Task Force, the WG, with the support of AEGIS and AARC-TREE, will work closely with the AARC Architecture and Policy WGs, as well as the other WGs within the Technical and Semantic Interoperability Task Force.

Discussions on the ongoing work of the WG take place in the EOSC AAI WG mailing list. The group holds a bi-weekly call every other Friday at 09:00 CE(S)T, starting from October 11th 2024.

Activities

Activity 1:   Engage with stakeholders to identify new use cases and requirements

Through liaison efforts with other bodies and collaboration with the Task Force members, identify and assess use cases, requirements and gaps. There will be two versions:

  • Requirements for the EOSC AAI v2024, due in Q1 2025, which will drive the work for the EOSC AAI Architecture v2025.
  • Requirements for the EOSC AAI v2025, due in Q1 2026, which will drive the work for the EOSC AAI Architecture v2026.

Output: Report on the requirements for the EOSC AAI (v2024 and v2025)

Activity 2: Develop the next version of the EOSC AAI Architecture

Continue evolving the EOSC AAI Architecture, following the AARC Blueprint Architecture, the AARC Interoperability Guidelines and the AARC Tree landscaping activity. There will be three versions:

  • EOSC AAI Architecture v2024, due in Q4 2025, which will focus on updating v2022 to capture the developments that have taken place since the end of the work of the previous task force and to address existing challenges and gaps.
  • EOSC AAI Architecture v2026, due in Q3 of 2026, which will focus on the identified challenges and gaps from the “Requirements for the EOSC AAI v2026”

Output: EOSC AAI Architecture (v2025 and v2026)
