Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)

The IETF is an open community setting standards for the Internet community. Various Working Groups (WGs) use processes around the ideas of "rough consensus and running code" to develop protocols, best practices, and informational documents with the stated goal of making the Internet work better. As IETF standards define many of the protocols used on the Internet, including TCP, its work is generally relevant for network performance. In addition, there are some WGs that are specifically concerned with network performance, measurement, and topics handled elsewhere in this guide, in particular
