Learning Needs Assessment (LNA): Process in 5 steps
Step 1: Invitation to chat
GLAD send an email invitation for a meeting to Work package Leaders (WPL) and Task Leaders (TL) to discuss the training requirements.
Step 2: All - in -1 chat
GLAD organises meetings with every activity. During the two-hour chat, GLAD will listen and ask questions. The ambition is to collect views on the current and future team performance, as well as to understand the context of each activity, team strategy, goals and deliverables
Step 1
Work package leaders will receive an invitation by email for a chat about training requirements in their work packages.
Step 2
Team and task leaders take part in a discussion organised by GLAD to discuss training needs that support the work activities and project deliverables.
During a one-hour chat we will ask you questions about your team, team strategy, project goals and deliverables and your view on the current performance of your team and future performance requirements. To get an idea of the type of questions click here.

3: Summary email
GLAD provides a summary email. It will include the following: (a) identified needs; (b) proposed solutions; (c) prioritisation, (d) possible alternative(s) and (e) proposed execution timeline.
Step 4. Triaging: tentative Learning Programme
GLAD arranges a tentative Learning Programme. The tentative Learning Programme will be put together to summarise conversations. All requests will be arranged in two streams:(1) Must have, the training projects that are essential and instrumental to the GN4.3 performance. ‘Must haves’ are those projects that are mentioned in the Technical Annex and they will be executed.(2) Nice to have, are those training projects that are deemed necessary but aren’t a deliverable. Prioritising ‘Nice to have’ will depend on two factors (a) learners’ interest and (b) availability and eligibility of resources.

After this explorative exercise we will digest your information and provide you with a summary of the discussion. The summary will include a list of your training requests and if possible, some training suggestions These could encompass courses (in-house, public or online), coaching needs or otherwise. All will be captured in a plan for action.

To give learners a voice in this LNA process – after all, the learning is on their part, all GN4.3 project team members will be invited to cast a vote on the ‘Nice to the training requests nominated by the team leaders and select their top 5. This will help us target and prioritise training requests even better.
