WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

On Thursday 12th July 2012, The European Commission Information Society and Media DG will host a workshop on policy recommendations for the development and implementation of an Authorisation and Authentication Infrastructures (AAI) for researchers in Europe, aimed at creating the conditions to enable an increase in collaboration.

This workshop is the culmination of a study to explore what the possibilities and requirements are for an AAI, given the new challenges posed by the rise of e-science and increasing emphasis on collaboration and the sharing of scientific content. Findings from the study will be presented and various experts from within the e-science and research infrastructure providers communities will present their points of view on the relevance of an AAI to their activities. Input from participants will be invited and considered in recommendations in the final report. The final report will be submitted to the European Commission and will be used to inform the work of Horizon 2020.

Participants at the workshop will include stakeholder representatives from National Research & Educational Networks (NRENs), research infrastructures, libraries and data centre, and the e-science community.
